Information To Bring To The Free Consultation

We will schedule a free consultation for you to meet with an attorney to discuss your specific financial problems, and whether we could help you by filing for bankruptcy relief in Western Kentucky or Southern Illinois.

In order to understand your financial situation, and make a plan with you, we will need a few items. We will need to see what you own, what income you make, and what debts you have—both secured, such as a mortgage or car loan, and unsecured, such as credit card debts or medical bills.

Once we understand your situation and explain your options, you can decide what you wish to do. If you decide to file for bankruptcy, we need to demonstrate that you are eligible, and complete some paperwork for the bankruptcy court.

On your first meeting with us, it would be helpful if you brought:

  • Paystubs, as many as you can, from the past six months
  • Bank statements from all your bank accounts, preferably the last 6 months
  • A recorded copy of all deeds to land that your name is on
  • A recorded copy of all mortgages that your name is on
  • Correspondence (bills) you have received from creditors, including threats of legal action, garnishments, and suits.

If these are unavailable, our bankruptcy lawyers may be able to instruct you how to get them.

Depending on your circumstances, additional documents may be helpful. Are you paying child support? Do you owe back taxes?

Please contact our office to arrange a meeting with our bankruptcy attorney, Marcus H. Herbert.
